La historia de And also the trees comienza en Inkberrow ( Worcestershire) en 1979, cuando dos pares de hermanos : Simon Jones - Justin Jones ; Y Nick havas - Graham Havas forman el grupo, influenciados por el post-punk reinante ( Joy Dvision, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Gang of Four,etc) y por el lugar dónde vivían. Escogen como nombre: "and also the trees", que era el título de una de sus primeras canciones. Tiempo después Graham dejó la banda y en reemplazo entró Steven Burrows en el bajo. En 1981 respondieron a un aviso puesto por The Cure, estaban buscando bandas teloneras para acompañarlos en su tour Británico , resultaron elegidos, razón por la cual , The Cure les pidió que los acompañaran de tour.Años más tarde And Also the trees firmó contrato con Future records (después conocido como Reflex), quienes en 1983, editaron el single "Shantell" , a éste lo siguió su album debut autotitulado "And Also the trees" (producido por Lol Tolhurst). En 1985 , acompañaron nuevamente a The Cure en una de sus giras. Esta asociación constante con The Cure, fue paulatinamente perjudicandolos, ya que la gente los trataba de "plagiadores". "Es una vergüenza que siempre comparen And Also The Trees con The Cure, porque ellos están tan influenciados por nosotros, como nosotros por ellos".declaró Simon en una entrevista..

Con el Lanzamiento del segundo album "Virus Meadow"( 1986), la influencia de la naturaleza , de su villa, y de su medio ambiente se hace más evidente. Las letras se vuelven más poéticas, La esencia del Romanticismo perfuma sus canciones especialmente en "the millpond years"(1987) y "Farewell to the shade" (1989), con estos tres discos logran por fin su propio , especial y único sonido. En 1992 , editan "Green is the sea" que transita una senda muy similar a la de los anteriores discos, y se embarcan por primera vez en un tour a los Estados Unidos. En 1993 con el album "The klaxon" hay un cambio en su música y en sus influencias, se vuelven más urbanos, la guitarra de Justin ya no suena como una mandolina, el sonido de la guitarra de los 50 hace su debut, una especie de surf rock o psycho surf, lo cual se refleja mejor en "Angelfish" (1996) y el disco siguiente "Silver Soul" (1998).

Después de varios años de silencio, finalmente en el año 2003, editan "Further from the truth" , un álbum , tranquilo, elegante, y obviamente un alivio y un regalo para todos los fans que pensaban que los rumores de la separación de la banda eran ciertos. Hasta el momento ya han tocado en varias partes de europa y han participado en algunos festivales. y en el verano (Europeo) estará disponible, una compilación de sus canciones desde 1980 hasta el 2005, con motivo de la celebración de sus 25 años como grupo.

Está compuesta por Sam Endicott (guitarra y voz), John Conway (teclados), Anthony Burulcich (batería), Michael Zakarin (guitar) y Mike Hindert (bajo). Gothic Rock Ultimate Collection

A finales de la década ochentera el Gothic Rock había pasado por sus tres momentos, génesis, gloria y decadencia. Fue entonces cuando se publico el primer volumen de "Gothic Rock" en un disco doble así como "Goth Box" en un empaque de 4 discos junto con un video "The Goth Box".
Este material se trato de verdaderos documentos músicales de la época, inclusive compitiendo entre ambas recopilaciones en grado de ser la mejor de su época. Sin embargo "Goth Box" se trataba únicamente de los grupos que habían firmado con Cleopatra Records, el gran monstruo discográfico del Rock Gótico, mientras que "Gothic Rock" se trato de un trabajo recopilatorio menos amplio pero que fue libre para elegir entre varias bandas. Es decir, este último fue una recopilación de música y no una recopilación de disquera.

Debido al exito de "Gothic Rock" se convirtio en la recopilación de música obscura por excelencia. Aún no adquirían fuerza los grupitos metaleros que se hacen llamar góticos, por lo cual se trato de una recopilación con sonidos rasposos y callejeros denominados Post Punk's, deadthrock's, Afterpunks. En el siglo XXI, dado el valor de este material y dado tambien el "renacimiento del post punk" los creadores originales de la primera recopilación decidierón reeditar el disco al tiempo que el número de bandas fuera mayor e integraran a los nuevos grupos en escena. Así se publica en el 2001 "Gothic Rock. Ultimate Collection" compilación de 5 CD's con bandas como Alien Sex Fiend, Bauhaus, The Cult, Theatre of Hate, Specimen, Skeletal Family, Danse Society, Rosetta Stone, Christian Death, Fields Of The Nephilim, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Gene Loves Jezebel.

Wolfsheim - No happy view

Duo aleman que comienza sus andadas por 1987 bajo el sello del synthpop, directamente influenciados por Ultravox y el ancho de la ya muy desarrollada corriente New wave con tintes obscuros. Blog en el olvido...

Hace mucho que no me metia a este blog, mas que nada por motivos de exceso de trabajo y otras cosas se volvieron mi proriedad. Pero ahora pienso retomarlo, aunque sea lentamente.
